Regular Stop at Gas Station turns into Premium Win
D.C. man wins $50,000 Taxes-Paid Extreme Green Scratch-Off Top Prize

(Baltimore) – When George Lollar realized it would be a while before he could get his gas he decided to go into the BP store. While there, he purchased two Extreme Green scratch-off tickets on his way into work Saturday morning. “I have to thank the guy who pulled up in the truck and blocked me in so I couldn’t get gas,” he explained. After he left work that night he went home and scratched his tickets. “Once I realized I won, I still didn’t believe it,’ he admits. He called Lottery headquarters and confirmed it was a winning ticket.

The lucky winner put the ticket on his computer table for safe keeping until he came into headquarters on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Lollar’s brother, Jeffrey Payne, brought him to claim his taxes-paid prize of $50,000.

When he first delivered the good news, he told his brother that he’d won about $9,000. While driving on I-95, to Jeffery’s surprise, Mr. Lollar decided to tell his brother he had, in fact, won $50,000. “No, I want to see the ticket. I don’t believe it. Don’t tell me that while I’m driving I might turn this car over,” his brother exclaimed.

The 73-year-old plans to pay off his bills, fix his car and help with expenses for a vacation he and his brother will be taking to Alaska in June. The winning ticket was purchased at Riggs BP, located at 5851 Riggs Road in Hyattsville.
