St. Mary’s Couple Turns $15 Win into $30,000 Top Prize

(Baltimore) – Loretta and David Coombs stopped by Colonial Liquors to cash a $15 winning 3 Times Lucky scratch-off ticket Wednesday evening. After cashing in their winning ticket, the Mechanicsville couple bought their usual Mega Millions, Pick 3 and Pick 4 tickets along with five more 3 Times Lucky scratch-off tickets.

When they got home, they split the scratch-off tickets between them. As they always do, Loretta took two and David took the other two. They save the last ticket for whoever wins something. Loretta won that privilege, along with $30,000, when she scratched her second ticket. “Oh my God, David look,” the mother-of-two exclaimed.

“Take your time. Let me look,” David replied. Once they confirmed they had a $30,000 winning ticket they put it in their safe.
Loretta and David wanted to cash in the ticket before sharing the exciting news. They plan to tell their family members on Mother’s Day.

The couple, who have three grandchildren, plan to pay off their bills, take a trip to Dover Downs and donate to their church and favorite charities. “It hasn’t hit me yet, I’m just so thankful,” Loretta told Lottery officials. The winning ticket was purchased at Colonial Liquors, 600 North Crain Highway in La Plata.
