Carroll County Couple Claims $50,000
Wins Queen of Hearts Top Prize

(Baltimore) – A Westminster scratch-off fan noticed the cashier at her local Lottery retailer loading a brand new game into the dispenser and decided to give it a try.  As she scratched her Queen of Hearts ticket and saw that she’d won $50 she figured it was a sign that a good day was ahead of her.  She decided to get another ticket or two with her winnings.  Since it was already lucky for her, she stuck with the Queen of Hearts ticket.  This time, she took it home to scratch.  The good day she expected was about to become a bit better than she could have hoped.

The stay-at-home-mom and her husband, a home improvement contractor, scratched the tickets together. She told officials that she couldn’t quite believe her eyes when she saw how much she won.  She burst into tears and collapsed to the floor when her husband confirmed that they’d won $50,000.

Those tears flowed again at Lottery Headquarters when the lucky winner told of the bills and medical expenses that were plaguing her family.  “This couldn’t have come at a better time for us.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Quick Stop Liquors, 322 140 Village Road in Westminster.
