Racking Up Mega Winners in Maryland
$250,000 Second-Tier Winning Ticket Sold in Ellicott City
(Baltimore) – There has been a
steady stream of Mega Millions winners coming to claim their
prizes. Lottery Headquarters awaits the latest winners from last
night’s drawing, including the holder of a $250,000 ticket sold at
High’s, located on Rogers Ave. in Ellicott City. In addition to the
second-tier win, the Mega Millions game produced three more
$10,000 prizes in Maryland. That brings the total number of winners
to 13 second-tier and 75 third-tier since January. Mega
Millions, a multi-state game, has awarded over $8.7 million in
prizes to Maryland Lottery players so far this year.
“Some
people don’t realize that the Mega Millions game pays out so
much prize money -- even when someone doesn’t win the jackpot,” said
Lottery Director Buddy Roogow. “The Maryland Lottery is thrilled to
have had an abundant number of $10,000 Mega Millions winners
this year as well as numerous $250,000 winners.”
There
was no jackpot winner last night, making this Friday night’s drawing
worth $145 million. Maryland’s most recent Mega Millions
jackpot winners include Bunky Bartlett from Dundalk, who split a
$330 million jackpot with three others on August 31st,
and a 78-year-old Essex woman and her daughter winning $27 million
on October 5th.
The Mega Millions game is played
in 12 states, including Maryland, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts,
Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Virginia, Washington, Texas
and California. Mega Millions drawings can be seen on Tuesday
and Friday evenings at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV, Channel 11 and at
11:30 p.m. on Maryland Public Television.
