Family Connection Leads to Mega Win

(Baltimore) – Victor Ruiz, a residential installer for a Montgomery County HVAC contractor, has a system for winning Mega Millions. “I play a combination of family birthdates and lucky numbers,” said Ruiz. The family connection turned into a celebration when he matched all five Mega Millions numbers except for the Mega Ball on April 11th, winning a $250,000 second-tier prize.

Victor discovered the win when he checked the ticket at the store last week. First he checked with a Quick Check machine. When the machine displayed a message he hadn’t seen before, Ruiz handed his ticket to the clerk. The clerk checked the ticket and pointed to the banner hanging in the store announcing that a $250,000 Mega Millions ticket was sold at that store.

Ruiz said he immediately began contacting family. “When I stopped shaking, I called my wife,” said Ruiz. “I had to bring her back to the store to convince her.” The rest of the family members were all notified quickly with a series of calls, email and texts.

The happy winner said he’s going to pay off his truck, start a college fund for his kids and take a family vacation. “We would like to go to Hawaii,” said Ruiz. The winning ticket was purchased at 7-11, located on Snouffers School Road in Gaithersburg.
