Fortune Found in
Chinese Zodiac-Themed Scratch-off
Catonsville Couple Claim $8,888 Year of the Rat Top Prize
(Baltimore) –
Ann and Edward Bartlinski from Catonsville have spent their lives
helping others. They have seven children, three of which were
adopted from China. The couple’s latest venture is to open an
orphanage in China for special needs children. Their connection to
China is the reason why they decided to purchase a
few Year of the Rat scratch-off tickets. According to
Chinese tradition, the rat is an astrological symbol that
corresponds with this year and represents good fortune and wealth.
And lucky for them, they chose that ticket and won the $8,888 top
prize.
“Dr. Ed,” as the Chiropractor’s patients call him, was at work on
Wednesday when Ann called him with the good news. The couple came
to Lottery headquarters today with their two youngest daughters,
Emilia and Lucy. “Our oldest child is about to graduate from
college, so this win came at a great time,” said Ed. “This will
definitely help towards the graduation party and gifts.”
All seven kids have ideas of their own as to how they want to spend
the money, ranging from a trip to Disney World or
China
to a new car.The winning ticket was purchased at Short Stop News,
located inside the Mall in Columbia.
