Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend for Bladensburg Woman
Claims $100,000 Cash Diamonds Top Prize

(Baltimore) – Giddy with excitement, Catherine Slye arrived at Lottery Headquarters with her cousin, Patricia Moody, to claim her $100,000 Cash Diamonds scratch-off prize. “I can’t even think, I’m so excited,” she gushed. “I love diamonds, this is my favorite ticket. I’ve always said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend.”

Yesterday afternoon, Catherine stopped at the Exxon On the Run store, one of her favorite spots to buy her Lottery tickets, and picked up four Cash Diamonds scratch-offs.  She went back to her car and proceeded to scratch them. The third ticket revealed her $100,000 win. She told Lottery officials, “Unbelievable was my first thought.” After containing herself, she went back in the store. The clerk looked at the ticket and confirmed her win.

The 66-year-old proceeded to relay her good news to friends and family and to find a ride to Lottery Headquarters. “I was too excited and distracted to drive. I kept thinking, I’ve won $100,000. I think I would have ended up in a ditch.”

Her cousin Patricia was kind enough to accompany her to claim her winnings, which she intends to use for a new car and, most importantly, to pay bills. “Out of debt -- out of debt,” Catherine proclaimed over and over again. “That’s what I’m most excited about.”

The ticket was purchased at Exxon On the Run, located at 6579 Annapolis Rd. in Landover Hills..
