Baltimore Woman Claims $50,000
Taxes-Paid Prize
(Baltimore) – A Baltimore woman
was picking up some Lottery tickets at a nearby retailer when a
peculiar feeling led to a $50,000 taxes-paid top-prize. When she
looked behind the counter, she saw Extreme Green, a
scratch-off ticket a co-worker had been talking about. “It was the
last one left,” she said. “I had a feeling about it, so I bought it.
She waited until she returned home to scratch the ticket. “I like to
be home relaxing and focused on what I’m doing when I scratch them
off,” said the 54-year-old warehouse worker. She became excited
when the ‘cash’ emblems on her ticket matched, winning her $50,000.
She immediately called her children, who had a hard time believing
the good news.
“I’ve never heard of a taxes-paid top-prize” said her son. Her son
came to her house a few days later to see what all of the excitement
was about. “Seeing is believing,” he said.
The Maryland Lottery pays the Federal and State taxes on each of the
ticket’s top-prizes, awarding the full $50,000 to the winner. The
lucky woman said she may use her prize to buy a boat, “to do some
crabbing,” she added.
The winning ticket was purchased at Tobacco Outlet on Edmondson
Avenue in Baltimore.
