Damascus Couple Claims $250,000
Mega Millions Prize
(Baltimore) – Life will be a
little easier for Joe and Marcia Petrosino when they decide to
retire. That’s because they won a $250,000 Mega Millions
prize by matching all five numbers, except for the Mega Ball,
from Friday night’s drawing. Joe realized they were big winners
after checking his tickets on Saturday morning.
“I gave the ticket to the clerk who told me that the amount was too
large to cash at the store,” said the 60-year-old federal government
employee. Joe went home and immediately told his wife. “Joe is a
big jokester, so of course I didn’t believe him,” said Marcia, a
nurse.
“We’re going to take a trip to Colorado to see one of my old Navy
buddies,” said Joe. In addition to the vacation, the couple plans
to put money away for retirement, pay-off a car, and give some to
their three kids and grandson.
The
winning ticket was purchased at 7-11, located 26344 Ridge Road in
Damascus. This is the 19th Mega Millions
second-tier $250,000 winner in Maryland since the start of the
fiscal year in July. There was no jackpot winner Friday, making
tomorrow night’s drawing worth $69 million.
The multi-state Mega Millions
game is played in 12 states, including Maryland, Georgia, Illinois,
Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Virginia,
Washington, Texas and California. Mega Millions drawings can
be seen on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV,
Channel 11 and at 11:30 p.m. on Maryland Public Television.
