Pasadena Man Almost Throws Away
$50K Winning Ticket
Wins $50,000 Top Prize on Brand New Pirate’s Gold Scratch-Off
(Baltimore) – This morning,
Preston Adcock was on his way to his mother-in-law’s house when he
decided to stop and purchase a scratch-off ticket. The clerk
convinced him to try the Pirate’s Gold ticket, since it had
just launched yesterday. After scratching it, Preston almost threw
it in the trash, thinking it was not a winner. Luckily, the
74-year-old decided to double check the ticket. Good thing he did,
since it turned out to be a $50,000 winner.
Still not believing he won, Preston
asked a woman who walked into the store to look at his ticket. She
told him it was a winner. “I didn’t know what to say,” he said. “I
was shocked.” The grandfather-of-twelve called his wife and daughter
on his way to Lottery headquarters to share the good news.
The retired man, who was a truck driver
for 45 years, is a heart transplant recipient. He plans to use his
winnings to pay for prescriptions and bills. “I’m shocked, but
happy I won,” Preston said with a smile. The winning ticket was
purchased at Honey Bee’s Liquors on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.
Pirate’s Gold is a $5 scratch-off
ticket. There are still five $50,000 top-prize tickets remaining,
along with many other prizes.
