North Carolina Man Wins Big After Brief Maryland Stop
Wins $50,000 Riverboat Riches Top Prize

(Baltimore) – When 45-year-old Jesse Whitaker, Jr. of Scotland Neck, North Carolina decided to take a road trip to Dover Downs Casino to try and win a few bucks, he had no idea he’d be ahead of the game before he even arrived! That’s because, while in Maryland, he decided to purchase a Riverboat Riches scratch-off ticket and won the $50,000 top prize.

“I figured I’d grab a few scratch-off tickets while we gassed-up,” he said. “When I finished scratching the ticket, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. All I could say then was let the celebration begin!”

The lucky winner, who has worked for the Department of Corrections in North Carolina for over ten years, told Lottery officials that he plans to do some repairs around the house and give some of his prize money to his family.

The winning ticket was purchased at TJ’s Market on Salisbury Boulevard in Salisbury.
