Mega Millions Win Turns Into $10,000 Scratch-Off Prize
Baltimore Woman Wins Top Prize on Congratulations! Ticket

(Baltimore) – Congratulations were definitely in order for Janice Nicholson of Baltimore. She was the first person to claim a $10,000 prize playing the Lottery’s new Congratulations! scratch-off.  The Baltimore City woman, who first won $10 from Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing, increased her winnings a thousand times by playing the new scratch-off game the next day. On Saturday,  she asked her daughter, Lisa,  to take her $10 winnings and get her five Congratulations! scratch-off tickets. That’s when the 61-year-old scratched her way to the top prize.

“Do you see what I see,” the retired certified nurse’s assistant immediately asked her daughter.  Janice, who kept the winning ticket in a safe until bringing it to Lottery headquarters on Monday to claim her prize, told officials that this was her first big Lottery win.

Ms. Nicholson was self-employed as a caregiver for handicapped patients for 24 years.  The mother-of-four plans to pay bills and spend money on her 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The ticket was purchased at E-Z Convenience at 5822 Hillen Road in Baltimore.
