Winter Trip to the Beach Proves Lucky for Pennsylvania Man
Keno Bonus Game Yields $40,000 Win

(Baltimore) – Every summer, Thomas Johns of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania travels to the Eastern Shore with his family.  This past weekend, he drove to Bethany Beach to check on his home.  Friends in Pennsylvania advised Thomas to put off the trip because of the expected bad weather, but luckily, he decided to go anyway.

After confirming his house was intact, the civilian U.S. Army employee decided to go to dinner at Seacrets in Ocean City, and to play his favorite game, Keno. Upon arriving, Thomas saw a friend of his celebrating a birthday and bought him some tickets for that night’s Mega Millions drawing.  “I guess one good turn deserves another,” he told Lottery officials, “because the very next ticket I played won me $40,000.”  The restaurant staff and other patrons were just as happy as he was, especially when he bought a round for the house. 

He called home to share the news with his parents and two daughters, all of whom were convinced that he was joking.  “They’ll believe it’s true when they’re riding on our new wave-runner this summer,” Thomas said.
