 Couple Win Top-Prize with Hot $7,777! Scratch-off

        
(Baltimore) – An Abingdon man’s heart was in the right place at the right time when he purchased a Hot $7,777 scratch-off as a Valentine’s Day surprise for his wife. They were both stunned when the scratch-off revealed a $7,777 top-prize.

The winner, owner of a Harford County Laundromat, is a regular scratch-off player. On his way home from work he stopped to pick up a scratch-off. When he returned home, he and his wife of 14 years scratched the ticket together. The couple had been planning a Valentine’s celebration for Friday, but the celebration started early as one of the hot numbers on their ticket matched, winning them one of the ticket’s top prizes.

“I was very surprised. This was the first time I’ve ever won big,” said the man. After he and his wife uncovered the prize on the ticket he began shouting excitedly.

The winner’s brother described the animated phone call they had the night of the big win. “It sounded like he was having a heart attack,” said the brother.

The father-of-two said they plan to use the winnings to take the family on a summer vacation in California. The winning ticket was purchased at an Instant Ticket Vending Machine (ITVM) at Maryland House Travel Center, located in the median of Interstate 95 in Aberdeen.
