Mega Millions
Jackpot Rises to $179 Million
Two Second-Tier $250,000 Tickets Sold
(Baltimore) –
The Mega Millions jackpot
keeps getting bigger, now reaching a whopping $179 million for
Friday night’s drawing. Although nobody hit the huge jackpot last
night, Maryland sold two second-tier $250,000 winning tickets.
The winning tickets were purchased at
Doc’s F & B Liquors at 7067 B&A Blvd. in Glen Burnie and at Pantry 1
Food Mart, located at 7100 North Point Rd. in Baltimore. The winning
numbers on Tuesday were 14-27-39-47-50
and Mega Ball 12. The winners have 182 days to claim their prizes.
Maryland has had a number of Mega
Millions winners recently, including 14 second-tier winners
since the beginning of the fiscal year in July. Baltimore County
resident, Bunky Bartlett, was one of four people nationwide to win
the $330 million Mega Millions jackpot in July 2007, taking
home a prize of $82.5 million. The biggest jackpot in Maryland, $183
million, was won in June 2003 by Bernadette Gietka, from Baltimore
County.
The Mega Millions drawing is
held in Atlanta, Georgia and can be seen locally on Tuesday and
Friday evenings at 11:22 pm on WBAL-TV, Channel 11. The multi-state
Mega Millions game is played in 12 states -- Maryland,
Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York,
Ohio, Virginia, Washington, Texas and California.
