What is RACETRAX? |

Racetrax®
is one of the Maryland
Lottery's most exciting computer-animated games. It offers
the thrill of being at the track with the payout and prizes
similar to live horse betting.

How do I play
Racetrax®? |
To play
Racetrax®, players
must select horses from a field of 12 in each race.
To begin betting, players must make selections in four different
sections of the playslip:
1) Bet Type;
2) Select Your Horse(s)/Quick Pick;
3) Bet Amount;
4) Number of Races
Players can play
varying amounts for several consecutive races using the available
selections in
Racetrax® Playslip
sections 3 & 4.
There are seven
different betting styles available on the playslip. These betting
styles are selected using the selections in
Racetrax®
playslip sections 1 & 2.
These betting styles are explained in detail below. |

With this style of bet, you select one or more horses to finish in
first, second, or third. Select horses by darkening the boxes for the

QUINELLA |

Players who like both WIN and SHOW bet
types, combine them with a WIN/SHOW bet. Pick one
or more horses and you could win if your horses place 1st, 2nd, or
3rd. The WIN/SHOW is considered two bets and the
minimum cost for this bet is $2. Select horses by darkening the boxes
for corresponding horses using only the 1st box of part 2 on the
playslip. |
To make a QUINELLA bet, simply select
2 or more horses that will finish in 1st and 2nd place in any order.

box on part 2 of the playslip. |

TRIFECTA |
TRIFECTA BOX |
Select at least 3 horses in the EXACT order of finish (1st, 2nd, 3rd). The
horses should be marked in playslip section 2, using each of the three
boxes to designate the order of finish (horses finishing 1st will go
in box 1, while horses finishing 2nd will go in box 2 and horses
finishing 3rd will go in box 3 of part 2 on the playslip.

This betting feature allows players to select at least 3 horses and
'box' them, allowing the 3 selected horses in the 1st, 2nd, and
3rd in any order. This bet is automatically six bets, with a minimum
price of $6. For this particular bet, players only select horses in
the 1st box in the second section of the playslip. Players can pick
multiple horses for each box bet but for every horse you add, you're
increasing the number of combinations and number of bets.
For example: By selecting 4 horses, you are increasing the
possible combinations to 24. |

TRIFECTA WHEEL |
|
TRIFECTA WHEEL is an exciting new way to play RACETRAX because it
allows players to select a combination of four or more horses that you
want to finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the exact order. This new betting
feature lets players pick multiple combinations for the horses
finishing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Players unsure of which horse will finish
in any place can select additional horses using this bet.
For example: If the number 6 horse was chosen to come in first,
the bet would go in the first boxed area of section 2 on playslip. If
the numbers 4 and 8 horses were chosen to come in second, this bet
would go in the second boxed area of section 2 on the playslip. If the
number 5 and 7 horses were chosen to come in third, the bet would go
in box three of section 2 on the playslip. This would be four winning
combinations. View combinations on the right. |
Players placing this bet will win if the horses finish in any of these
combinations:

Maximum Prize Cap

There
is a maximum prize of $1 million per race that can be won when playing
the following win levels: a) Win (includes Win and Win/Show), b) Show
(includes Show and Win/Show), c) Quinella and d) Trifecta (includes
Trifecta, Trifecta Box and Trifecta Wheel). If the combined winnings
of any players playing any one of these win levels exceeds the $1
million maximum liability, then the $1 million is split among those
winners in proportion to the wager, so that winners who would have won
a higher amount will receive a large portion than winners who would
have won a lower amount. |
